GhostBSD 4.0 RC1, a FreeBSD-based operating system that relies on Xfce, LXDE, MATE, and OpenBox desktop environments, is now ready for testing.
The developers of GhostBSD have released a new development version of GhostBSD and it looks like we might get a final build very soon. There are very few changes and most of the problems have been fixed.
"Please be aware that this release provides users and developers with a system to test out new features for the upcoming release. This release is a RC Test build and may contain buggy features, so we encourage you to run it only on non-critical systems."
"Developers can't fix problems that we are not aware and can't reproduce; if you report a problem give us a detailed reports that we can reproduce the problem," reads the official announcement.
According to the changelog, Xconfig from 3.5 has been added back to the system, a script has been added to do configuration on the first boot of the new installation, and a problem with a software dependency has been fixed.
The distribution is available for both the 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. Check out the official announcement for more details about this release. You can download GhostBSD 4.0 RC1 right now from Softpedia.
Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only. This system should be tested inside a virtual machine or a system that can't be harmed.
