GhostBSD, a FreeBSD-based operating system that relies on GNOME desktop environments, is now at version 3.0 RC2.

GhostBSD 3.0 RC2 is based on GNOME 2, but the developers have promised that a GNOME 3 version will be available later.

Highlights of GhostBSD 3.0 RC2:

• FreeBSD 9.1 RC1 has been updated to FreeBSD 9.1 RC2; • A new network card configuration method has been implemented; • Xchat has been added to the distro; • Xorg is now automatically configured and the Nvidia native driver is supported.

The developers have also mentioned a few small issues: ZFS has not been fully tested, Bwi and Bwn Drivers for Broadcom card might not work, and native Nvidia Drivers are not installed by default.

Download GhostBSD 3.0 RC2 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
