GhostBSD, a FreeBSD-based operating system based on GNOME desktop environments, is now at version 3.0 RC1.

GhostBSD 3.0 RC1 is based on GNOME 2, but the developers have promised that a GNOME 3 version will be available later.

Highlights of GhostBSD 3.0 RC1:

• FreeBSD 9.1 Beta 1 has been updated to FreeBSD 9.1 RC1; • Bxpkg has been fixed and now it uses 9-stable pkg instead of 9.0 pkg; • The installation process will now inform he users about any errors that might occur; • Wi-Fi configuration in /etc/rc.conf has been added.

The developers have also mentioned a small issue: ZFS has not been fully tested.

Download GhostBSD 3.0 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
