A long lost city is reemerging in Argentina, after decades of lying underwater. The once luxury resort of Epecuen is now a mere shadow of what it once was.

An eerie landscape is captured on video, as the saltwater has made its mark on trees, old buildings, household appliances and cars left behind by its residents.

According to the Daily Mail, this unusual scenery can be observed 550 km (340 miles) south of the capital city of Buenos Aires. Heavy rain put the town 10 meters (30 feet) under water in November 1985.

In the 70s, Epecuen was a bustling center of tourism, with some 1,500 permanent residents who were then forced to leave their homes.

The waters have started to recede in 2009, and the former resort is now completely exposed, what is left of it that is.
