Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms will be getting a new update soon, introducing a ton of changes, and in order to celebrate it, the company is holding a Steam weekend giveaway.

Ghost Recon Phantoms was launched three months ago, and since then the company has kept a close eye on its community, taking into account all the feedback gathered and delivering what the game's players want in the upcoming Update 1.2.

The game is a free-to-play third-person team-based tactical shooter that has players engage in 16 versus 16 online matches. Gamers can choose from a selection of three different classes of characters, with six special devices to use during combat and thousands of available weapon combinations.

Ubisoft has even neatly put together all the info in the form of the greatest child that maths and visual design have ever spawned, an infographic, available below.

The update is rebalancing all the weapons, making significant adjustments to the speed at which players run and reload their guns. In addition to this, device recharging time has also been cut down, translating into a speed of deployment up to two times higher than before.

The company has aimed to make gameplay flow smoother and to make encounters more fast-paced, which translates into a 6 percent increase in running speed, up to 30 percent faster weapon reload time, five to nine times faster weapon ready time and doubled weapon swap speed.

Furthermore, the infographic also displays the restructured rewards tier, designed to help newcomers achieve progress even faster, and gain access to higher-level weapons within hours of picking up the game.

The improved Beginner and Lieutenant's Playlist will allow starting players to train against people in the same skill bracket for a longer period of time, before they go out into the open against more seasoned players.

In order to celebrate the improvements made to the game, Ubisoft is holding a Ghost Recon Phantoms special Steam promotion for three days, starting today and running through July 14, allowing players to download a free starter bundle.

Gamers will be able to choose from three different starter bundles, one for each class, in order to help them get started with the tactical shooter, in case they haven't tried it already.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms is playable for free, and if you're interesting in giving it a go, you can register for a free account on the official website.
