The development team at Ubisoft working on Ghost Recon Online says that it is working with the Electronic Sports League and the North American Electronic Sports League to launch a new competition for the free shooter.

The event will start on September 15 and all those interested can register up until the moment when the contest goes live.

Ghost Recon Online will host a seven-week-long series of matches, with a mini-cup awarded each week for the best team.

Once the series is done, the most capable 4 teams will be able to qualify for the continental Final Playoffs in both the US and EU.

At the same time, Ubisoft announces that it will introduce new weapons to Ghost Recon Online in the coming 0.12.4 update, including the Nemesis 50 sniper rifle to the beastly SPAS-12 semi-auto shotgun.

The game will also soon have a player-owned Athena Council which will consult on future development of the shooter.
