Ubisoft has just revealed that its upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is now scheduled to arrive at the end of May and that a PC version of the game will actually appear at a later time.

The Ghost Recon series set the bar for tactical shooters many years ago but, since then, the franchise has been dormant. Fortunately, the next installment is almost here, in the form of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, which has been in development for quite some time, at Ubisoft’s own studios in France.

Sadly, fans of the series will have to wait a bit longer, as the company has now confirmed that Future Soldier has been pushed back from its late March release date. Instead, the shooter is now going to arrive on store shelves at the end of May, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

A multiplayer beta will be released in April, however, so fans can get a taste of the new title’s online mode before its release.

What’s more, Ubisoft has also confirmed that a PC version of the game is now in development, which will arrive on the platform at a later time. Until now, Ubisoft remained tight-lipped about a PC edition of Future Soldier, saying that franchise fans on the PC would only get the free-to-play Ghost Recon Online title.

“Ubisoft prides itself on creating some of the most compelling and innovative experiences in digital entertainment,” said Adrian Lacey, IP development director at Ubisoft Studios – France, about the delay. “Today we are feature complete in our MP, Single player and 4 player coop campaign modes. We have taken the decision to move the date in order to ensure that all these ingredients are pushed to the highest level and provide a truly unique shooter experience.”

The developer said that the extra months would allow the team to polish every part of the game and deliver a quality experience.

“The Ghost Recon franchise is known for setting the standard of high definition gaming and we believe the extra couple of months will allow us to reach that goal. We would like to thank all Ghost Recon fans for their patience and look forward to unveiling some exciting new elements in the coming weeks.”

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is now scheduled to appear on May 22, in North America, and May 24, in Europe.

Until then, you can check out below a video on the delay.
