Rugged machinery is often envisioned as bulky and rough. However, Getac plans to prove customers wrong by bringing out into the world a new rugged tablet, distinguishable from the sea of similar products, by its light, compact design.

Now the company has announced the official availability of the F110 tablet (you could only pre-order up until now), which the company claims is the “thinnest and lightest large-screen rugged tablet ever build.”

Getac President Rowina Lee said the company “is very excited about the response we have received form customers about our new F110 rugged tablet.”

“The pre-orders we have received reaffirm our belief that thinner and lighter mobile devices are what customers need to be effective and efficient in their tasks. We will continue to listen to customer needs as we develop products and services in the future.”

The Getac F110 slate features an 11.6-inch TFT LCD HD screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. In the processor department, there’s a choice between 4th gen Intel Core i5-4300U clocked at 1.9GHz or i7-4600U clocked at 2.1GHz with Turbo Boost Technology.

Note that Getac offers a dual-hot swappable batteries, so professionals can go on working without needing to stop for a recharge. The tablet is less than 1 inch / 25mm thick and weighs just 3 pounds / 1.3 kg and will certainly make for a useful work companion (has Windows 8 for increased productivity).
