As it often happens, a company, in this case Getac, decided it was time to upgrade one of tis existing products, so it took the B300 rugged laptop and gave it a new CPU that promises to improve computing speed by 67% while consuming just 25 Watts.

The B300 is a rugged notebook, which means that, besides having the full range of PC capabilities, is very adept at surviving physical abuse.

To be more specific, the product is dust-proof and also boasts MIL-STD-810G-certified shock resistance.

Now, Getac proudly announced that this machine will now be more powerful than before, through the addition the Core i7-620LM, whose clock is of 2.0 GHz, or 2.8 GHz on Turbo.

All in all, this CPU upgrade promises to boost speed by 67% while consuming just 25 W, and this capability is only complemented by the rest of the hardware.

The chip is backed up by up to 8 GB of RAM, while storage space is provided by a hard disk drive of 250 GB or a SSD (solid state drive) of 80 GB or 160 GB.

Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, optional GPS and mobile broadband.

"We have improved the new B300 specifically to make it ideal for the military especially for night-time use and in a marine environment," explains Peter Molyneux, Business Development Director of Getac in the UK.

"However, there are also many industries that will benefit from the 67% increase in CPU performance and the doubling of graphic capabilities, whether they operate near sea air or not," he added.

Backed by a five-year warranty, the Getac B300 has a price tag of $3,799.

"With this upgrade, operators get more versatility and connectivity than ever before," says Molyneux.

"This is all part of Getac's aim of differentiating itself from the competition by consistently delivering affordable, high performance, fully rugged computing that meets the needs of today's field-based operation," he concluded.
