A new mobile application is available for devices running under Google's Android operating system, namely GetGlue for Android. Released upon users' requests, the new software solution is meant to offer Android phone owners the possibility to try out the same features as another popular web-based and social networking application offers, namely GetGlue for iPhone.

The application is meant to offer users the possibility to easily check on their favorite shows, music, movies and books, or take a look at what their friends are enjoying, all in real time.

“Since we launched GetGlue for iPhone, we’ve received an overwhelming number of requests from our users for the Android-specific app,” a recent post on GetGlue's blog reads.

“You sent us dozens of emails and tweets. Sometimes friendly, and sometimes angry - where is the Android app. Well today, your wait is over - GetGlue for Android is now released and available in the Android store,” the said blog post continues.

Among the features of the new application, we can count the possibility to rate favorite shows, movies, music and books, or to receive personalized suggestions.

Additionally, Android phone owners can also use the app for check-in to tv shows, movies, music, games, and books, something that would bring them points and stickers from GetGlue and major brands.

The GetGlue Android App also features: - Share check-ins with your Twitter and Facebook friends - See what your friends are currently watching, reading or listening to - Earn leaderboard points and get stickers from GetGlue and major brands - Rate lists of popular shows, movies, music and books - Get suggestions for weekly new releases and old favorites picked just for you - Take your favorite entertainment and suggestions with you everywhere

According to the software solution's development team, the Android application was designed using Titanium - a cross-platform development environment meant to simplify the building of mobile applications.

Moreover, the launch of the GetGlue Android app was accompanied by the release of a new GetGlue Mobile Site, accessible at http://getglue.com/mobile, which brings basic check-in capability to users of Blackberry, Windows Mobile and other platforms that do not benefit from a native GetGlue app.
