The aglet conspiracy has just gained a whole new layer

If you're a fan of The Question, you can probably get the joke about the aglets. If not, suffice it to say that in the DC Comics universe the purpose of aglets is sinister.

We still have no proof either way whether or not aglets are some sort of secret weapon for world domination, or just a red herring in real life.

Whatever the case, while we continue to swim in the bliss of pleasant ignorance, there is now a way to tie shoelaces easier: the Shnap + Laces.

The Shnap + Laces have just been introduced as part of a crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter website.

The idea is that, with the system in place, one can switch from having to tie laces to just snapping a pair of buttons open or closed.

Nylon ball studs are pushed through the uppermost eyelets first, after which a couple of retainer rings are added to hold them in place.

Then nylon buttons are threaded onto the ends of the laces, and lid into place until they line up with the studs when the shoes are snug.

That done, the buttons can subsequently be snapped onto the studs to hold them closed, or off to open them up. The excess lace can be trimmed away.

People with limited dexterity will probably love the Shnap + Laces as long as they can get someone else to set it up. All it takes to get a set is a pledge of nine bucks.
