Windows Vista s almost upon us, and - as you've certainly heard time and time again - it will require a pretty powerful system in order to run
at optimum performance. However, we (sadly) also know that latest generation RAM modules are extremely expensive nowadays, and that's the reason why the US Modular company has just announced an alternate solution, namely the RAMBoost USB Flash Drive, which will boost up your system's memory, while preserving the integrity of your bank account.

Thus, the RAMBoost USB works just like an ordinary flash device but, due to the fact that it is compatible with Microsoft's special ReadyBoost technology, it can also be configured by the Windows Vista OS to give the computing system an increase in over-all speed. Of course, the system also works as an ordinary portable storage solution, so you can actually get 2 very useful products for the same amount of money, and is available in various sizes, from 256 MB to 4 GB. Besides being USB 2.0 compatible, it's also pretty tough, being able to withstand more than 1000G of shocks and vibrations up to 15G.

Here's a list of the some of the most important features and specifications the RAMBoost USB Flash Drive has to offer:

- dimensions: 16 mm x 26 mm x 87 mm;
- weight: 19 grams;
- compatible with Microsoft's Vista ReadyBoost technology;
- interface: USB 2.0, USB 1.1;
- max speed: read 8Mbit/sec, write 6.4Mbit/sec;
- operating temperatures: 0° C to 50° C;
- vibration resistance: 15G;
- shock resistant: more than 1000G;
- USB self-powered, no external power required.

As mentioned in the title, the RAMBoost USB Flash Drives will be a lot cheaper than RAM modules, starting at just 19 US dollars, and could represent a great solution for those of us who can't afford to upgrade their computer just yet.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
