There are many ways to get an ad-free email account these days, but in case ad blockers aren’t exactly your cup of tea, here’s a special Microsoft offer for Outlook and Hotmail.

GHacks.net writes that those who pay for an annual $19.99 (€14.85) subscription will get a cleaner Hotmail and Outlook account, with no graphics ads and no account expiration.

Microsoft automatically suspends email accounts after 270 days of inactivity, but paying for such a subscription keeps your inbox accessible for 12 months.

Of course, some people believe that paying for such a service is more like a waste of money, especially given the fact that browsers usually come with more or less advanced ad-blocking options. But, in the end, buying a subscription seems to be the right way to do it.

WTF!!! What is this? A mafia tax for protection against adds? They are serving you those adds in the first place, and now they want money to clean their own dirt? What is this? A Godfather movie? It's ridiculous!

I already pay the $20 for Hotmail but with this new change to Outlook I cannot even connect to my email. I get a message, "cannot connect to hotmail." This Hot Mail to Outlook change was certainly not seamless to me. M.S., Outlook, and now Windows, Hotmail.. everything M.S. touches turns to CRAP. Apple here I come.

Maybe they should have called it 'Blackmail' not 'Hotmail'.

I've been using Hotmail since it came out virtually,I still use it,but, not so much nowadays.
How they can allow their email service to become a spam vehicle, then,'blackmail' users to get it off,or else it stays, just STINKS.

As for no going back to Hotmail from Outlook,it's that same attitude from Microsoft, that says,of W8,we are NOT going back to the Start Menu.
I don't like it,but,if they want to follow in Apple's footsteps,by making PC users install only Microsoft Store apps, then who am I to argue with them.

The result will be only to the good of Linux.
