Eva Mendes talks workout routine and diet, says she’s a big fan of walking

Undoubtedly, Eva Mendes has one of the best bodies in the industry: curvy yet toned, feminine yet strong. She’s no different than any other women when it comes to working out, she says: she doesn’t necessarily like it, but she knows it’s a must.

Eva is featured in the latest issue of Zest magazine, one of UK’s most popular fitness magazine. She’s also a spokesperson for Reebok’s EasyTone range, which she wore from head to toe for the Zest interview and photoshoot – see the video below.

Speaking of her workout routine, Eva says she doesn’t go ecstatic when she thinks she has to spend two hours a day, four days a week at the gym.

Luckily, she likes to keep on the move. Also luckily, she realizes it’s important to do so, both for her health and for her career.

“I hit the gym three to four times a week to do light weights – not too many repetitions – which target my whole body, and some serious cardio – normally sprinting and interval running,” the actress says for the magazine.

“The minimum I do cardio for is 35 minutes, but you can get a lot done in that time if you use it wisely. And then I spend about an hour on the weight training,” she adds.

“I also do yoga twice a week. It’s mostly astanga, but my yoga instructor creates a program for me based around what I need – so if my muscles are tight from running, we’ll do poses to open everything up,” Eva goes on to say.

She also walks a lot, going out for long walks with her dog or hiking with friends whenever she has the chance and finds the time.

Of course, Eva’s amazing body is also down to a healthy diet. She doesn’t believe in too many restrictions, so she tries to balance everything so that she gets to eat a little bit of everything – except meat.

“I focus on the inside out – so it’s all about what I’m eating, how I’m feeding my body and how much water I’m drinking. I don’t eat meat, but I eat a lot of fish and brown rice,” she says.

“I love bread, too. People are always surprised when I eat bread in restaurants! I mostly stick to wholemeal, though,” Eva adds.
