Powering one's mobile phone while on the go is never an easy task. First, one has to have the charger with him/her, then find a power socket, then wait by the phone until it's at least partially charged. Not very pleasant, is it now? Well, this is the reason why portable chargers have become very popular lately and one of these devices is the XPower PowerSource Mobile Mini from Xantrex, which can help users keep their smartphones, BlackBerry's, iPods or PSPs up and running for longer periods of time.

The Mobile Mini offers quite a few interesting developments, compared to other similar products. Thus, it features a mini USB pivot arm so that users can connect it directly to their BlackBerrys, but also to the latest Motorola phones (as for example the RAZR, ROKR, etc.). Moreover, the device also sports a second USB port, thus allowing the device to charge two devices at once.

The portable charger from Xantrex sports an internal Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 3 aH and has multiple-recharging options. Thus, it can be recharged either at home through a lightweight AC charger, on the road (through the car's lighter adapter) and even at one's computer from the USB port.

As any recharger, the XPower PowerSource Mobile Mini also offers some protection features. Thus, the device incorporates an over-temperature shutdown, a low-battery voltage shutdown (2.5 volts DC with automatic reset), as well as an overload shutdown, thus assuring the fact that both the internal battery and the connected devices will remain safe.

The portable recharger is also quite...portable, as it measures 2.4 cm x 6.7 cm x 8.2 cm at a weight of around 120 grams. The XPower PowerSource Mobile Mini is available online for around 50 US dollars, which is quite an affordable price for a device that will help users keep their phones charged at all times.
