Pirates are stalking the high seas

There haven't been a lot of good pirate videogames lately (just a lot of talk about videogame piracy). Ever since the remake of Sid Meier's Pirates!, the seas have been tamed and gold has been safely divided among the various colonial powers (the British, the French, the Spanish and maybe the Portuguese) in the Caribbean.

But now it's time for galleons to be boarded and for broadsides to be launched, as Buccaneer: The Pursuit of Infamy from Stickman Studios and Blitz Arcade is available on the Steam digital download service for just 19.99 dollars.

Harvey Greensall, the co founder of Stickman Studios, stated that “We were really pleased with the success of the beta test phase, which proved that the game is as much fun as we'd hoped. Now that we've launched it's fantastic to see the tactics that people are discovering with our game.”

The game is very arcade like, with simple controls and instant access. The main idea of single player is to get your rag tag crew, which can barely survive on the high seas, to become the most powerful and wealthy pirates in the area. This can only be accomplished by fighting through as many as 56 non linear missions that the developers have created.

There's also multiplayer in Buccaneer: The Pursuit of Infamy and there are ten maps specifically designed to allow players to see who the best pirate is. There are a lot of strategies players can engage in, especially now, as the game has just been launched.

The title can be downloaded from Steam and there's a demo available for the game that lets all those who are interested in getting Buccaneer: The Pursuit of Infamy experience ten full single player levels. Log in to your Steam account and see what buccaneering is all about.
