Are you a procrastinator or do you like doing things when they are supposed to be done? Either way, you probably need a good task management app to keep you on top of things. After all, if you put your tasks in such an app, that counts as your first step towards doing something, right?

The Mac App Store staff has curated a new list called "Get Stuff Done" and it features tens of apps divided into a few categories: Stay on Task, Take Notes, Manage Your Time, Organize, and Utilities. As usual, these are indeed some of the best apps for your job and they will help you take care of your household chores faster as well.

When it comes to staying on task, the first app you want to consider is the almighty Omnifocus 2. This is the golden standard of productivity, an app with so many features that can easily organize everything you throw at it. Omnifocus 2 is $39.99 (€29.79), but there are cheaper alternatives that provide similar functionality. Wunderlist 3 or Todoist are some of the best apps in that category. They are both free and getting a premium subscriber package will unlock features suited for business or advanced home users.

Taking notes can be done in a simple TextEdit window, but having them sync across platforms and turn them into a searchable list may prove difficult.

Evernote is the best app if you need a so-called everything drawer. You can add all sorts of documents, and the app will OCR pictures and PDF notes to make them easier to find.

If you need a text-only note-taking app with no added bulk, you may want to try Simplenote. This free app syncs with its iOS and its counterparts and works well with an all-time OS X users’ favorite – nvALT.

In order to manage your time, the App Store staff recommend nine different great apps. Fantastical is one of the most amazing Calendar replacements and the winner of numerous awards. It stays in your Menu Bar and you can always add a new event using the natural language engine that recognizes details, dates, and names and fills out the event info for you.

Organizing the files on your computer and in your house is just as important. DaisyDisk or Gemini will find duplicates or large-sized files that you need to remove.

The last category is the one related to Utilities, and to make it easier for you, we believe that you should download and use all of them. 1 Password will solve the problem with your passwords, Alfred is the best app launcher, and TextExpander is an all-around awesome app that will help you get your time back when you are writing the same text over and over.
