Those who pre-order Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition for Mac OS X from Aspyr Media’s GameAgent site will benefit from a discount (5%), the company says. Slated for launch this winter, and exclusively available through gameagent.com before arriving in retail stores, the game combines the original Star Wars The Force Unleashed with three new levels featuring an iconic Star Wars setting, and a range of new costumes and character models.

Developed and published in North America by Aspyr, this special edition of the game will show players "the deepest, darkest side of the Force in a story that puts them on a collision course with Luke Skywalker himself," according to the company.

The minimum system requirements include Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) through 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard), an Intel Core 2 Duo (Dual-Core) processor running at 2.4 GHz, 2GB of RAM, 25GB of available storage space (hard drive) + 1GB Swap File, ATI Radeon HD2600, or NVIDIA Geforce 8600 graphics with at least 256MB VRam, DVD-ROM, an Apple mouse and keyboard or Microsoft Xbox 360 Wired Controller. The recommended specs include a 2.6 GHz Intel Quad-Core CPU and a GeForce 8800 (512MB) graphics card.

Aspyr asks gamers to note that Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition contains technology intended to prevent copying, which may conflict with some disk and virtual disk drives. Additionally, Intel-integrated video chipsets are not supported, as aren’t Power PC Processors (G4 and G5). Volumes formatted as Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive) are also not supported.

In related news, Aspyr Media has reportedly fired half of its tech team. The news came "through several unnamed but reliable sources" talking to the people at Big Download, who spread the news that the publisher of multiple Mac game ports, Aspyr Media, had laid off roughly 50 per cent of its crew.
