It won’t be long now until the final version of Opera 11.10 codenamed Barracuda becomes available for download to all users. Opera Software just started offering early adopters Build 2083, which it has labeled the second Release Candidate of Opera 11’s successor.

Opera 11.10 RC2 comes at just a day after the availability of Opera 11.10 RC1 to testers.

Those that follow closely the development process of new Opera releases undoubtedly know that as it nears the general availability deadline for a new version, Opera Software accelerates not only the pace but also increases the number of testing Builds provided to early adopters.

Of course, the two RC development snapshots are no exception to this rule, and this means that the Final version of Opera 11.10 is just around the corner.

“Here is a second release candidate for Opera 11.10 ("Barracuda"). Since we are so close to release the change log is a little smaller than normal, with a focus on critical fixes,” revealed Ruarí Ødegaard, from the Opera Desktop team.

If I were to bet, I’d put my money on an Opera 11.10 Final launch by the end of today or sometime this weekend, although the release could also slip into next week, but I highly doubt it.

In the end it all depends on the number of issues that Opera Software still has to hammer down. But simply looking at the Opera 11.10 RC2 change log, it’s clear that the vast majority of bugs have already been resolved. Still, new problems could still be identified, and Opera Software continues to receive feedback from testers.

“Before reporting any possible release blockers, please consider doing a clean install to verify if it still happens there. Some problems seem to be caused by "dirty" installations of snapshots on top of older snapshots with experimental code,” Ødegaard added.

Make sure to keep your eyes on Softpedia and I’ll provide an update when Opera 11.10 Final becomes available for download.
