Sony Ericsson G705, also known as Sony Ericsson Kumiko, seems to be ready for an official presentation, which should happen no later than next Monday, on September 8. This release date is not (yet) confirmed by the Swedish-Japanese manufacturer, but it has appeared on several websites, including the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog and the SEMC Blog, hence we can say that what we have here is a pretty legit piece of info.

Of course, up to this point, there are no official images with the G705 or details regarding its features. Still, we've seen a boatload of live pictures with the handset, showing a slider design and edgy corners, which give it a square-ish overall look. Some might not like it, while others might love it, but what's pretty clear is that the new Kumiko is quite different from the rest of the devices in the G-series previously presented by Sony Ericsson.

The features that the new slider is said to have include: GSM and HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity, a 2.4 inch TFT QVGA display with 262K colors, accelerometer, light sensor, built-in GPS, UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access), Wi-Fi, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with geotagging but sans auto focus, secondary camera for video calls, Memory Stick Micro card support and a Java-based User Interface (no UIQ). All these features surely make the handset a good one, so let's hope Sony Ericsson confirms them.

No word yet on whether SE intends to present other phones together with the G705. However, last week we talked about a so-called Sony Ericsson Eian, said to be the Walkman version of G705, so this handset might be unveiled on Monday too. And while there’s no way we can be sure of that for the moment, we do know that SE will announce a set of new accessories, including a digital photo frame (named IDP-100) and a Bluetooth car speaker (HCB-108).
