QNAP, also known as “Quality Network Appliance Provider,” has recently released a new firmware version for their TS-420U and TS-421U network attached storage devices

Version 3.8.2 build 0301 brings lots of fixes and improvements but does not bring the OpenSSL and OpenSSH upgrades.

The highlights of the release notes are the Amazon S3 cloud storage, which now supports objects greater than 2GB, and the HDD Health new logging system for the I/O in diagnostics.

The most interesting improvements come with the Remote Replication UI, HFS+ compatibility and UPnP Network Discovery security.

The annoying upload error to destination folders containing “&” has been fixed as well as the non-stop media library scanning if the Music Station is disabled or changed to manual scanning. For the Music Station, the finish time is added in the media library scanning schedule.
