While almost one out of five celebrities has his/her own reality show and even the police are into that kind of stuff, it would have probably been absurd not to make one about the world inside the offices of a newspaper.
Especially when it's not just one, but two competing tabloids: the 'New York Daily News' and the 'New York Post'.
The Bravo mini-series, semi-documentary, made up of six parts is scheduled to premiere tonight at 21.00.
It represents a closer look inside the hectic world of a journalist in a permanent search for hot topics, forever struggling to meet the deadline and to top the competition.
It is Kerry Burke who could be called 'the hero' of the series, a person who otherwise would have never drawn anybody's attention. He is the rumpled man always chasing a good story, knocking on doors that nobody is willing to open, poking his nose at every crime scene and asking personal and indiscreet questions.
He is the embodiment of the modern day journalist and we have to ask ourselves what happened to all that objectivity and truth relevance from bygone days. And, even more, how is he to tell an unbiased story, when the camera crew is chasing him all over town? Well, maybe it doesn't even matter that much; it is a tabloid we're talking, after all...
But, if you're interested to see how a reporter gets his stories and what he has to do to get them in the first place, make sure you don't miss the 'Tabloid Wars' pilot tonight.
