Valve has confirmed that, through the recent integration of popular live streaming service Twitch into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, players can score free drops by watching the official streams from tournaments like Dreamhack Winter 2013.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive received a fresh update yesterday that changed a few things and integrated Twitch into the game, allowing players to link their Steam accounts to the live streaming service.

This link has quite a few advantages, as during the upcoming Dreamhack Winter 2013 tournament, those who watch the CS: GO competition will earn free Dreamhack cases that contain new customized weapons.

The drops will happen randomly during the event, according to the official post on the Counter-Strike blog, so it's unclear just how many cases will be given to viewers.

Dreamhack Winter 2013 starts on November 28 and lasts until December 1.

eSports is becoming big business and more and more gamers are willing to actually pay for livestreams that allow them to see the best players in big tournaments.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive continues to get updates from the Valve developers and there are also plans to upgrade the entire game to improved tech.

But at the moment the studio seems to be more focused on the development of DOTA 2, which seems poised to become bigger in terms of audience and business in the long term.
