In a new self-promotion strategy, Blizzard has just confirmed that those who buy Diablo 3's upcoming expansion, Reaper of Souls, will receive a free expert card pack for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, its new online, free-to-play card game.

Blizzard currently has quite a lot of different projects underway, from the perennial World of Warcraft, which is set to get a fresh expansion this year, to Starcraft 2, which might finally receive its third chapter in the future.

Currently, the studio has just released Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, its free-to-play online trading card game, and is getting ready to debut tomorrow, March 25, the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion for its popular role-playing dungeon crawler.

Ahead of the new release, Blizzard has confirmed on its official website that a special surprise is in store for those who get Reaper of Souls.

More specifically, customers will get a certain number of expert card packs that can be redeemed inside Hearthstone in the future.

Check out the full list of actual details about the promotion below.

Depending on the version of Reaper of Souls you have pre-purchased (or purchase in the future) you can expect the following: - Reaper of Souls: Digital Standard Edition – One (1) Hearthstone Expert Card Pack, delivered to your Battle.net account. - Reaper of Souls: Retail Standard Edition – One (1) Free Hearthstone Expert Card Pack, available in your Reaper of Souls box as a redeemable code. - Reaper of Souls: Digital Deluxe Edition – Three (3) Hearthstone Expert Card Packs, delivered to your Battle.net account. - Reaper of Souls: Retail Collector's Edition – Three (3) Hearthstone Expert Card Packs, available in your Collector’s Edition box as three separate redeemable codes.

Bear in mind that some restrictions apply to this special promotion, in order to avoid abuse and make sure that all customers are rewarded fairly.

"These Expert Card Packs require a Battle.net account to be redeemed, and a maximum of five bonus Expert Card Packs can be redeemed on a single Battle.net account. If you aren't already playing Hearthstone when the bonus Expert Card Pack keys are granted to your Battle.net account, don’t worry—they’ll be waiting for you in-game as soon as you download Hearthstone for free and get through the introductory missions."

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is coming out tomorrow, March 25, worldwide for the PC and Mac platforms. The expansion might appear in the future for PS3 and Xbox 360, and will also debut in the form of the Ultimate Evil edition on PS4.
