Glu Mobile has announced a new game for iPhone and iPod touch called Cops & Robbers. Immediately available for download via the iTunes App Store, the title is a Glu-original, promising to offer a rush of adrenaline as players take the role of a thief escaping pursuers, or the cop chasing down a criminal on the run.

“Cops & Robbers introduces unique sub-genre because we set out to make a fast-moving experience that has the flow of a racing game with the variety and challenge of an action platformer,” Jill Braff, senior vice president of global publishing, Glu Mobile, said. “We are excited to provide consumers with a game that takes advantage of the unique and engaging features of the revolutionary iPhone and iPod touch.”

The leading global publisher of mobile games describes its newest iPhone title as playing off of parkour-style acrobatics using the unique accelerometer controls of the iPhone and iPod touch. The game is set in a 3D urban landscape, delivering what Glu Mobile calls a “visual feast full of shadows and rich glowing effects.”

The main features of Cops & Robbers include:

Gameplay variety – different environments, obstacles, challenges and moves to explore along the pursuit;
Replayability – when a player has beaten a level as the thief, he or she can replay it as the cop to try to beat their original time;
Acrobatic parkour moves – find the most direct and efficient path to escape the cops by pulling off a variety of well-timed gymnastic running moves;
Lasting gameplay – nine levels with multiple routes to explore, each level with three challenges;
Mini-games – an added lock-picking mini-game challenges players to solve a puzzle in order to access extra rewards.

As noted above, Cops & Robbers is now available worldwide for $4.99 via Apple's iTunes App Store. The application is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch running Software Update 2.2.1.
