The new firmware fixes WPA security key vulnerability

Belkin has provided its N300 Wi-Fi N router owners with a new firmware package, namely version 5.00.08, which is compatible with all of Microsoft’s operating systems, as well as Apple, Mac OS, and Android platforms.

If applied, the present package will resolve problems with the browser that wouldn’t default to the correct language settings, as well as the "Advanced Settings" link in the Dashboard that was unable to unlock the Firmware GUI Dashboard.

In addition to that, ISP configuration page will not appear instead of firmware "Checking for Updates" page (after establishing Dynamic Connection), and the WPA security key won’t be visible on Chrome’s page source anymore.

When it comes to installing the firmware, first of all make sure the router’s current version isn’t either newer or matching this release, and only afterwards save the downloadable .bin file on your computer.

If all is ok, login to the router’s dashboard, go to Firmware Update tab, hit the browse button, select and confirm the saved file, and choose the Update button – at this point a message window will appear asking for permission to start the upgrade process.

Last but not least, make sure that the power supply isn’t removed during this process so that the router can update successfully, without any problems.

That being said, download Belkin N300 Wi-Fi N Router Firmware 5.00.08, carefully apply it on your wireless unit, and enjoy the new changes this release brings about.
