Trade-in firm raises value for customers looking to upgrade their iPhone

NextWorth is reminding iPhone 4 owners to trade-in their smartphones to get cash and, theoretically, upgrade to the new iPhone 4S for free.

After the launch of the iPhone 4S last week, trade-in values started decreasing steadily. NextWorth is raising their trade-in values, but the company is urging customers to check with their carrier to see if they are eligible for an upgrade.

The company says, “Many may be able to upgrade for free, as the cost of upgrading to an iPhone 4S is $199, lower than the guaranteed trade-in value for an iPhone 4.”

Currently, the estimated wait time for a new iPhone 4S to arrive at your door is one to two weeks. As such, trading in this week locks in the $200 for 21 days, and you’ll have enough time to receive the new phone before sending in the old iPhone 4.

“We are seeing trade-in values decline as expected, but with the positive buzz around the iPhone 4S launch we wanted to give people a final chance to upgrade for free,” said Jeff Trachsel, CMO of NextWorth.

“NextWorth doesn’t expect phones to be flawless when we receive them,” added Trachsel. “In fact, we removed the 'like new' category earlier this year because only 0.5% of all iPhone trades we received met those standards.”

The 16GB or 32GB iPhone 4 must be in good working condition nonetheless. The phone mustn’t have any heavy scratches or cracks.

“Well-used iPhones are encouraged for trade-in,” says NextWorth.

To participate in the trade-in, simply visit the official NextWorth site, select which iPhone you have and answer a few questions about its condition. The firm will also offer free, fully-insured UPS shipping.
