Germany did not only lose the World Cup this month, but its coach, too. Jurgen Klinsmann has decided that he is not to continue his work at the german national team. At least that's what the media in Germany tells us today. "Bild" newspaper announced the coach's decision later yesterday. It seems that Klinsmann will take some time off, since he stated that he will not coach another national team such as England, Italy or United States.

Actually, that was his fans' biggest fear.
Since the former Inter Milan striker is currently living in California with his family, all the media in Germany assumed that he will take on the US job soon enough. Although the idea seemed great before the tournament - since nobody wanted Klinsi on the german bench, after he was accused of spending more time in California than coaching his team - almost 97% of the german football fans wanted him back.

More, after Germany won the 3-4 playoff against Portugal, all the fans gathered to celebrate his team's performance. This was, they tried to convince him to stay for at least 2 more years. After all, this was a team that he himself created and it would be a pity to let it go after only one tournament.

Yesterday, though, Klinsmann told the co-president of the German Football Federation, Theo Swanziger, that he will not be extending his contract with the Federation. And it seems that both Beckenbauer and Bierhoff's efforts to keep him on the bench were useless. The new coach is yet to be named later today, but some sources have revealed his name as Joachim Loew, Klinsmann's assistant during the World Cup.

The German squad will begin preparation for the Euro 2008 campaign with a friendly match against Sweden, their opponents in the World Cup first knockout round.
