A German consumer advocacy group is interested in launching legal action against Valve Software over the new changes made to the end user license agreement of digital distribution service Steam.

The Federation of German Consumer Organizations says that, when the Steam license agreement was updated during August in order to protect the company from class action lawsuit, it has coerced European users into agreeing with it.

The problem is that users who refused to acknowledge the change in terms were locked out of their Steam accounts and lost access to video games that they had already paid for.

The Federation of German Consumer Organizations is giving Valve until October 10 to respond to its charges and then plans to take the issue to court.

The consumer protection organization also wants to make sure that the end user license agreement for Steam is not in conflict with the new European Court of Justice ruling which allows those who buy content digitally to re-sell it.
