Apple has been struggling to launch the latest Mac Pro for a while now, and according to a notice on the company’s web site, the tower computer will become available sometime this month.

However, a retailer in Germany is already taking orders for two different Mac Pro 2013 configurations, with an estimated shipping date of December 17.

The prices are €2,999 (US $4,078.04) and €3,999 (US $5,437.84) for the quad-core model and six-core model, respectively, which is considerably more than what US customers will pay for the systems ($2,999 and $3,999, respectively).

There’s a good chance the shipping date is in line with Apple’s own plans, but the Cupertino company has yet to make the official announcement.

Apple introduced the new Mac Pro on October 22, claiming to have “redefined pro computing” with a radical new design featuring an innovative unified thermal core, the latest Intel Xeon processors (with up to 12 cores), dual graphics processors, flash storage (no more platter based hard drives), a new type of RAM, and six Thunderbolt 2 ports.

At the time of the unveiling, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said, “The new Mac Pro is our vision for the future of the pro desktop, everything about it has been reimagined and there has never been anything like it.”

“The new Mac Pro packs up to 12-core Xeon CPUs, dual FirePro GPUs, ultra-fast ECC memory, new PCIe flash storage, Thunderbolt 2 expandability and more into a radical new design that is one-eighth the size of the previous generation Mac Pro,” added Schiller.

When it’s made available, the new Mac Pro will be pre-installed with OS X Mavericks, the latest version of Apple’s desktop operating system.
