14 DAY TRIAL // Shakira is known for her racy videos in which she grinds and undulates her body in the most enticing ways possible, driving men all over the world crazy and women jealous. But there is probably one thing you have failed to notice about her latest videos.
Ever since she got involved with football player Gerard Pique, Shakira has stopped featuring men in her videos. The 37-year-old singer says that Pique no longer allows her to have male love interests in her shoots because he's jealous.
In a lengthy interview with Billboard Magazine, Shakira confesses that Pique is “very territorial.” This little bit of information explains why Shakira is featured in some very enticing poses with Rihanna in her latest video, instead of being held by a man.
“Can't Remember to Forget You,” Shakira's latest single was a big hit and a lot of that success is certainly due to the video in which Shakira and Rihanna aren't afraid to show their love for each other. In fact, the video was so well made, that it sparked some controversy in her native Colombia, for promoting gay behavior among youths.
“Since he no longer lets me do videos with men... I have to do them with women,” Shakira reveals, admitting that even so she had to ask permission from the FC Barcelona defender to shoot the video with the Caribbean hottie.
So large an influence Pique has on Shakira that she goes as far as to say “It's more than implied in our relationship that I can't do videos like I used to.” And you might think that this kind of jealous relationship is something that would bother the Colombian singer, but you'd be wrong.
Feminists out there may shudder with shock, but Shakira gushes that she likes it when her man is so territorial and protective. “I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person that he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna,” she said in the interview.
Pique probably has the right idea and most men out there wouldn't probably fault him for it because they'd do the same if they had Shakira as a girlfriend. The couple have been together for some time and have even welcomed their firs son together, Milan, in January last year.
At the moment, Shakira is busy putting the finishing touches on her latest album, her first in the last four years, that is supposed to be released in little over a month. Apart from sitting in the studio all day, the Latin singer has also been appearing on the TV talent show, The Voice, as a coach, something which seems to have helped the show's ratings.
