Gerard Butler has decided to drop out of the “Point Break” remake as the movie was getting ready for the production process. The movie was supposed to be a modern reinterpretation of the early ‘90s action movie classic which starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze.

The news is offered by The Hollywood Reporter which claims that Butler was supposed to act opposite Luke Bracey, who is playing the role of Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves in the original), a young but tough FBI agent.

The source claims that the drop out is due to some creative differences as well as a scheduling conflict. “Point Break” is due to start filming later this year, in June, a process which will likely last several months and take the actors to several locations across the Globe.

The problem is that Butler has also signed on to do the “Olympus Has Fallen” sequel, titled “London Has Fallen,” which is going to be another action movie and which starts shooting in London this autumn.

The producer's unwillingness to change the start date for filming on “Point Break” has made Gerard to opt on dropping out in order to focus on his sequel. The role is announced to be recast as soon as possible so that the entire team is ready by June to start filming.
