Actor is sorry he didn’t man up and commit to romance that started on the movie set

Jessica Biel is now officially Mrs. Justin Timberlake and, while all her friends are happy she’s finally found love, there is one man who wishes things would have turned out differently: her former co-star and fling Gerard Butler.

A new report in Radar Online claims that Gerard is filled with regret that he didn’t commit more to his romance with Biel back in the summer of 2011, when she was on a break with Justin and they dated for a while.

They initially got together on the set of “Playing for Keeps,” which will be out next month. Word has it they immediately hit it off and dated for a while, but the chemistry fizzled as shooting came to an end.

Even so, Butler wishes he’d acted differently, an unnamed source says for the publication.

“Gerard doesn’t have many regrets but not treating Jessica with the respect she deserved while they dated is one of them. He genuinely believes she was the one that got away,” says the tipster.

They wanted different things in life and, at that precise moment, Butler did not want to commit to a relationship, which is exactly what Jessica was looking for in a man.

“Jessica liked Gerard a lot, she was into his boyish nature, but she wanted something more serious. She was ready to settle down. [Gerard is happy that Jessica married Justin] but he still thinks he missed out,” the source dishes.

“He just wasn’t man enough to admit the feelings he had for her at the time,” adds the same spy.

Of course, fans of Butler must already know that, where he’s concerned, not a month goes by without hearing his name linked to some beauty or another in the press.

As a rule, Gerard is reportedly “dating” every one of his co-stars, Biel included.

Right now though, other reports say, he’s head over heels in love with Romanian model Madalina Ghenea.
