One of the most hated trends in men – which is still alive and kicking as we speak – right there next to the goatee, is the mullet. Often described as an “undecided” haircut because it’s neither all-long nor all-short, it is often associated with certain types for whom good manners or even hygiene may be foreign concepts. Far from what would think of Gerard Butler, yet he too rocked one such ‘do the other day, as JustJared informs.

The Scottish actor, considered one of the most attractive leading men in Hollywood right now (and with good reason, if one may add), donned a biker’s outfit, with leather pants, leather vest, worn out tee and, of course, the dreaded mullet. However, female fans can breathe easy: Gerry has not had a makeover or anything close to it, he’s just getting in character for a new movie he’s shooting.

“Gerard Butler dons slicked back hair, a leather vest and a sleeveless Harley-Davidson Motorcycles tee while shooting his new movie, Machine Gun Preacher, on Monday (July 12) in Detroit, Mich. The 40-year-old Scottish actor plays Sam Childers, a biker preacher-defender of Sudanese orphans. In this scene, his character returns home and his daughter is waiting for him with a ‘Welcome Home Daddy’ sign,” JustJared writes. Still, word on the web has it, this look is a far cry from Gerard’s handsome self.

Speaking of being rated as one of the most eligible men in showbiz, Butler often used the media to show that, in real life, he’s neither a womanizer nor that much of a hit with the ladies. For instance, in May this year, he was telling Men’s Journal that, despite what the tabloids claimed, he was actually a regular guy who still had some hold-ups when talking to a woman and who was certainly not in a position to use his fame to get them out on dates. Of course, he doesn’t explain this, but who’s counting.

“In the last five years since coming out here, I’ve had two relationships. I’m not a big relationship guy. One of my vices is, I’m too wrapped up in myself and not always in a good way. It’s not like I walk around going, ‘Hey, I’m amazing; I’m Gerry Butler!’ But I am too caught up in my own [expletive], good and bad. I appreciate the cosmic beauty of everything that’s happened. But do I spend a lot of time judging myself? Absolutely,” Butler was saying earlier this year.
