Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston reportedly became an item while they were shooting for the now completed romantic comedy / action film “The Bounty Hunter.” They repeatedly denied any sort of involvement past a purely platonic one, but his presence in Mexico on Aniston’s birthday only made rumors of them dating pick up speed. Now, People magazine says Butler might be going the extra mile to make Aniston jealous – and on Valentine’s Day nonetheless.

Both Aniston and the “300” star are very private about their personal life, which would explain why neither would openly confirm or deny dating, but only touch upon the topic in a very light manner or, in Butler’s case, make jokes about it. As such, when paparazzi photos of Butler in Mexico, on Aniston’s birthday holiday, made the rumors pick up again, especially since the two seemed to go out of their way not to be photographed together. This would mean they’re an item, People says, which, in turn, would make it so that Butler’s offering himself up for charity on Valentine’s Day would be nothing short an attempt at making his latest love interest jealous.

“Will Gerard Butler's latest move make Jennifer Aniston just a wee bit jealous? The Scottish actor – and ladies’ man – is offering himself up for a dinner date with the winner of a raffle to benefit charity, according to his Web site. ‘Gerard Butler Dot Net is giving YOU the opportunity to ENJOY a DATE with GERARD BUTLER,’ the announcement on his site reads about the Kids Kicking Cancer contest,” People magazine writes. While his initiative is, of course, admirable, it does seem strange that he didn’t choose to spend this special day with Aniston, People seems to imply.

Whether he’s really trying to make her jealous or not is of little consequence, though, since he’s doing something to help others, fans say. Sadly for those looking for a chance to go out on a date with the incredibly popular and good-looking star, the raffle has now closed, as the announcement on his website states. On the other hand, there’s always the hope that Gerard would agree to a similar initiative next year, so here’s to that.

“We wanted to give a timeline for the last days of the campaign. You may continue to send in your proof of donations to us via our campaign form AFTER making your donation directly to Kids Kicking Cancer via Network for Good until February 14 at 4pm EST.
