George Zimmerman just found out the price of fame the hard way, especially if that fame is achieved by unlawful ways. In his case, he went on to gain fame after the unfortunate shooting of the young black man Trayvon Martin.

Today, TMZ is reporting that Zimmerman has literally fled the city of Miami where he was busy doing his press rounds, after he was threatened there was a huge bounty on his head.

It seems the incident occurred last week when Zimmerman and his girlfriend and her child were out on the beach. People recognized him and started harassing him. At one point, someone shouted that him that there is a $10,000 (€7,296) bounty on his head.

Needless to say, this freaked the family out and he immediately retreated to his hotel room, but not before he had security do a sweep of his room to make sure that no one had tampered with his stuff.

Because some of his hecklers followed him in the hotel, he asked that a member of the security force be present at all times in front of his door.

The next day, Zimmerman had an interview with CNN, but shortly after it was completed, he chose to flee, leaving Miami to an undisclosed location.

By all accounts, the bounty on his head is real, although it might be significantly north of a couple of tens of thousands of dollars. There is a video online in which a member of the Black Panthers claims they are putting together one million dollars as a reward for the man who brings in George Zimmerman.

Just yesterday, in his CNN interview, Zimmerman complained that he was the victim in this scandal, as he claimed that he's a scapegoat for Obama or the government due to their “miscarriage of justice.”
