Promoter Damon Feldman backed out of a planned and much mediated celebrity fight between the controversial George Zimmerman and rapper DMX after he reportedly received death threats against his children, but that’s not to say we will definitely not see Zimmerman in the ring.

In fact, TMZ reports, another promoter has picked up rights for the fight from Feldman, and he’s determined to give audiences what they want: Zimmerman fighting a celebrity and loads of blood.

The new promoter says that they will get a bigger celebrity than DMX to go up against the former community guard up in the ring and, perhaps just as importantly, that they will fight to the death if need be, because it will be a “Fight Club” type of encounter.

This seems a bit difficult to pull off, especially with a celebrity, be they “bigger” or not than DMX, but the promoter is convinced they can do it.

“FilmOn says it's gonna give the public what it wants – blood – and tells us DMX is out as the challenger because ‘much bigger names than DMX’ want in. […] Alki David tells TMZ the fight will no longer be a celebrity boxing match... ‘this is going to be like Fight Club, a very bloody event’,” TMZ reports.

David is also confident that the fight will take place as previously scheduled, on March 15, with all proceeds going to charity – the Trayvon Martin Foundation no less. Trayvon was the unarmed African-American teen Zimmerman shot and killed in 2012, of whose murder he was acquitted in 2013.

However, despite the new promoter’s cockiness, TMZ reports that the deal is not done yet, since he’s still in negotiations with Feldman on signing over the rights to the fight.

The other day, DMX’s publicist issued a statement to distance the rapper from the controversy, saying he had never really agreed to the match and that everything had been blown out of proportion, including his alleged stalling to get more money from the promoter.
