A Ford truck owned by former president George W. Bush has racked up an impressive $300,000 (€225,000) at auction, sources say.

The F-150 King Ranch 4x4 SuperCrew was purchased in 2009 in Tucson, Arizona. It was driven on the politician's Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.

The car went back to Arizona, being sold in the Scottsdale auction, by Barrett-Jackson, Left Lane News details. Proof of it belonging to the ex-president lies in the signature on the dashboard and a home video of the Bushes driving it.

It was taken home by a Texas buyer, whose name has not been disclosed. Organizers expected to get twice the amount for the truck.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Fisher House Foundation, proving housing for military families as they visit hospitalized officers.
