George Romero and the People's Zombie

The famous horror movie maker George Romero believes that zombies should always be working class, as the undead are far more terrifying if they appear to be the putrid shells of common people.

Romero doesn't share the opinion that his zombies are too normal, insisting that the brain-eating corpses should look like real men and women, who once lived everyday lives.

I've always thought of them that way. One of the complaints I have about some of the other zombie things is that it's just people in Nikes, the 60-year-old director declared.

I always talk to the wardrobe people and say, "Give this guy a Santa Claus suit, or this girl a cheerleader costume - make them seem a little bit more like the neighbors", Romero added.
