Wham! was one one of the quintessential bands of the '80s

Today he might be known as George Michael, but when he first came out as a singer on the pop stage, George was just one half of a very successful duo that played under the name of Wham!. Radio stations still play their songs, which sold millions of albums in the '80.

Recently, George Michael, who hasn't exactly been on top of his game, has been hinting that he's making plans to bring back the band that brought him so much fame. The Mirror reports on several hints Michael has been letting on, including a possible performance at the Glastonbury Festival.

Wham! was formed in 1981 and it consisted of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. During their five-year stint, they sold over 25 million albums, not to mention creating some of the memorable dance anthems of the period that are still getting airplay to this day.

Some of you might remember hits such as “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” or “Club Tropicana” that used to light dance floors on fire.

In recent interviews in which he was promoting his new single “Feeling Good,” which is a cover of the famous hit by Nina Simone, George Michael told that it was a mistake to put an end to the band so soon.

Of course, you can't really take anything George says for granted. Asked what his biggest regret in life is, the singer says without giving a second thought, “Splitting Wham!” but then he jokingly adds, “Also, not asking Kate Moss to join Wham!”

The only shred of evidence we have about this reunion is the fact that Michael has reached out to his former band member, Andrew, who now lives in Cornwall, and has spoken about a possible performance at the Glastonbury Festival.

And if you're thinking that George is only in this for the money, you're wrong. The star has well over one hundred million in the bank, so it's not really like he needed some cash to pay the bills. That's good news because it means that, if it's going to happen, this reunion is going to be strictly about the music and not the money.

For those of you that didn't know, Wham! did actually make a short reunion back in 2012, when both members were present at George Michael's afterparty, following his performance at the Olympics closing ceremony.

It would seem that the party in question, which is reported to have been very wild, is also the first time they approached the idea of getting the band back together.
