No one is immune to life, not even Matt King from Hawaii

George Clooney is getting a lot of Oscar talk for two of his latest projects, “Ides of March” and “The Descendants.” While both are said to be excellent, it’s the latter that’s deemed a frontrunner, which would explain the release of another trailer.

The first trailer for “The Descendants” came out some time ago, clocking in at over 2 minutes. By comparison, the latest is more of a teaser, since it’s not longer than 1.08 minutes.

It also differs from the first one by placing more emphasis on Clooney’s character, Matt King, a wealthy man who finds out, once his wife has a boating accident, that his life was nothing like he thought it was.

As King puts it, just because they live in Hawaii doesn’t mean they’re “immune to life” or that their heartaches aren’t as painful as other people’s.

Critics cited in the trailer and the way it plays out hint that “The Descendants” is a real tear-jerker, oscillating from tragedy to comedy in a balanced, well-executed, Oscar-worthy way.

It’s out in theaters in the US on November 18, 2011.
