14 DAY TRIAL // She’s been dating Hollywood hunk and convinced bachelor George Clooney since last year, has been with him at all important public events and seems to be a keeper. However, Elisabetta Canalis may be hiding a very dark and troubled past, according to a model who knew her in 2008 and who just testified in court she’d seen her do drugs in one of Italy’s poshest clubs, as Radar Online can confirm.
According to the e-zine, citing reports in the Italian media, two clubs are named in a huge scandal, where the owners reportedly offered guests free drugs and the services of female escorts. It was a very well organized ring and, in some capacity or another, Canalis too was connected to it. As the two clubs where all these illegal activities were reportedly taking place are celebrity hotspots, she was often there and would often do drugs with the rest of the VIP guests.
“George Clooney has a squeaky clean reputation but his Italian model girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis has just been implicated in a cocaine scandal that led to the arrest of five people. Radar Online has discovered that Canalis has been implicated in an Italian cocaine scandal where one witness testified: ‘I’ve done cocaine with other people including Elisabetta Canalis’,” Radar reports.
“The two nightclubs – Hollywood and The Club – were described as a ‘free zone’ with ‘free cocaine for VIP’s’ where celebrities considered themselves above the law. ‘The VIP’s were protected, hidden… able to safely conduct themselves in any way, hidden from the court of public opinion,’ [prosecutor] Di Maio said. ‘They were often given cocaine for free by those who want to sit at a table of famous people… they want the visibility that comes from being seated at a central table, and to be seen with models, or celebrities from fashion, entertainment and sport’,” the same e-zine says.
This is not the first time that Canalis’ name comes up in the tabloid media: not long ago, there was a certain rumor making the rounds in the blogosphere that she was not as nice as she seemed and that she did have, indeed, a very dark past that she was trying to hide both from the media and her boyfriend Clooney.
