George Cloney's upcoming nuptials haven't garnered nearly as much attention as the wedding of his good friend Brad Pitt, but the actor might still hold the upper hand, as it has just been reported that he also plans a secret wedding, away from the eyes of the media, just for close friends and family.

While this is exactly the same move Brad and Angelina chose for their own matrimony, Clooney plans to one him up by holding the real wedding in secret and then a fake wedding for the media.

The real wedding is set to take place in London, in front of friends and family

The report comes from the Daily Star, which claims that Clooney has been orchestrating this since day one. He let it slip that he originally planned to marry human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin at his Lake Como villa in Italy.

Last week, the venue was changed to Venice, again by the actor who let it slip “unofficially” that he was going to marry Amal in Italy, just not in his own home. But now insiders report that the real wedding will take place at a register's office in west London, where only family and friends will be allowed to attend.

The big wedding is still taking place in Venice in a couple of weeks

While the date for the Venice Ball has been given as September 27, George wants to hold the official ceremony in London on September 12, which is tomorrow. Last month, Amal contacted the register offices in Kensington and Chelsea in order to get the wedding license, as required by local law.

This has led some to believe that the real wedding will take place in London, away from the eyes of the press. However, that does not exclude the big party in Venice, said to take place in a medieval palace.

If the Kim Kardashian and Kanye West wedding ended up being a D-list affair and Brad and Angelina's wedding was private, Clooney's bash is said to be the formal event of the year, as many A-listers are expected to make an appearance.

Among them, Brad Pitt will surely come, as he is expected to be the groom's best man, a position he won from Matt Damon, another good friend of Clooney's since the “Ocean's Eleven” days. Barack Obama announced that he wouldn’t attend the ceremony, but other important political figures claimed they would be joining the festivities.

Although this is just an unconfirmed report, chances are that Clooney really will tie the knot in secret, seeing as how he's been so anxious to get married; him, the once eternal bachelor.
