Gentoo Linux 11.2 LiveDVD Includes Linux Kernel 3.0, KDE SC 4.7.0, GNOME 3.0

The Gentoo Linux 11.2 LiveDVD has been released. The latest update to the venerable Linux distro comes with plenty of updated packages with some of the latest and greatest releases included, such as Linux 3.0, KDE SC 4.7.0, GNOME 3 and so on.

"Gentoo Linux is proud to announce the availability of a new LiveDVD to celebrate the continued collaboration between Gentoo users and developers. The LiveDVD features a superb list of packages, some of which are listed below," the Gentoo team said in the generic announcement.

The recently released Linux kernel 3.0 is included in the latest Gentoo update, along with the specific Gentoo updates.

In terms of desktop environments, the choice is rich, and you don't have to compromise with outdated versions, KDE SC 4.7.0, GNOME 3.0, Xfce 4.8 are just the three most popular options.

LibreOffice 3.3 is available if you need a fully featured office suite, but there is also the option of alternative stand-alone apps, such as Abiword 2.8.6 and so on.
