Genji: Dawn Of The Samurai is a video game that was developed by Game Republic and was published by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.

The game was launched exclusively on the PlayStation 2 home gaming console from Sony.

It was released during the month of June 2005, when the platform was in the middle of its life cycle and developers were able to use its superior computing power.

The title can be classified as a mix between an action title and a role-playing game that is played from a third-person perspective and includes elements taken from the martial arts and medieval fantasy genre.

The game is set in the Japan of the 12th century and it all begins with the Heishi clan, an organization that was able to conquer pretty much the entire island by using supernatural means.

They use the Amahagane to get supernatural powers or the Kamui and then win battles.

Yoshitsune is the main character of the game as the clan is searching for more stones to use and he uses his own to fight them off.

As the game progresses, a second hero emerges, the giant warrior monk Benkei, also an owner of the stones.

Successfully complete the game under the normal difficulty setting to unlock the hard difficulty setting, movie gallery, voice test, background music, and continue mode options. The hard difficulty is more satisfying to veteran players as it throws bigger challenges their way.

Successfully complete the game under the hard difficulty setting to unlock artwork for the characters, enemies, and stages.

Successfully complete continue mode to unlock the Boulder Piercer weapon for Benkei and the Gale weapon for Yoshitsune.
