Gen Con to Bring Unique Concert Performance to The Masses

- Gen Con Indy to host popular video game concert event

By: Silviu Stahie, Video and PC Games Editor

Gen Con announced that it will feature the ultimate in video game entertainment, Video Games Live. With Video Games Live, fans experience an immersive concert featuring music from the biggest video games of all time performed by some of the nation's most respected orchestras and choirs in this case the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Two innovative and interactive Video Games Live concerts featuring music from the biggest video games
of all time will be performed Friday and Saturday, August 11 and 12, at 8 p.m. at the Hilbert Circle Theatre. These special performances will be presented in conjunction with the Gen Con Indy Convention that will be held in Indianapolis August 10-13 at the Indianapolis Convention Center.

"At Gen Con we are always looking for new and interesting ways to make each and every Con the best it can be for our thousands of attendees each year," said Peter Adkison, CEO of Gen Con. "As North America's largest hobby gaming convention we provide attendees with a vast range of events to suit everyone's interest, whether it is video games, board games or trading card games to name a few. We embrace all forms of gaming and love the fact that Video Games Live will be at Indy this summer."

From browsing the aisles of the exhibit hall with over 250 exhibitors to taking part in tournament play, there is something for everyone at Gen Con Indy. Gaming enthusiasts partake in any number of the 4,500 gaming events taking place over the four-day event scheduled for August 10-13, 2006. Last year Gen Con conventions drew more than 100,000 attendees (turnstile count) in 2005. Video Games Live will feature exclusive video footage and music arrangements, synchronized lighting, solo performers, electronic percussionists, live action and unique interactive segments to create an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.

"What I have always loved about Gen Con is there attention to detail when it comes to the fans. The amount of activities and programs they provide their audience is really unbelievable," said Tommy Tallarico, co-creator of Video Games Live and a leading game music composer. "We accomplish the same goals when we perform our shows as well. By gamers, for gamers! The Gen Con event and crowd is a perfect match for Video Games Live. We are very honored and excited to be a part of it."
