Eager to provide enthusiasts with a versatile means of ensuring good internal cooling, Gelid decided it was time to release its newest fan, based on the Nanoflux bearing and which promises to provide a strong airflow for a long time.

When it comes to case fans, makers of cooling solutions find that they have to deal with a wide variety of consumers.

Some prefer colors and LED lights, others focus on silence or effectiveness, some even looking for the best of both worlds.

Gelid decided it would try the combined path, so it came up with the Wing 24 UV Blue, a 140mm spinner that promises to be both capable and long-lived.

The first noticeable element of the spinner is that its propeller is colored blue, though this is hardly the most important asset of the product.

The main feature is the Nanoflux bearing which, in fact, is responsible for not just the lifetime and low noise output, but also grants it dust and water resistance.

Nanoflux combines “clever magnetic design with high precision manufacturing” in order to allow the fan to run without friction and, thus, silently.

“Compared to other Magnetic bearings this technology allows the impeller to be detached and thus the fan blades can be cleaned easily,” states the press release.

“The nano composite material is self lubricating and even waterproof. Compared to sleeve and ball bearing the high precision self-lubricated material of GELID’s Nanoflux bearing eliminates oil leakage,' the release adds.

The Wing, thus, has a MTTF of 100,000 hours and a noise output of 26 dBA. Low noise can further be assured through the use of the bundled rubber mounts.

As for the spinner itself, it is made of 11 UV reactive fan blades that boast a winglet design. The rotary speed is of 1,200 RPM (rotations per minute).

Basically, Gelid hopes to see this 140mm fan as a means to ensure good cooling inside high-end personal computers. The Wing 14 UV Blue costs $20, or 15.40 Euro, and is accompanied by a five-year warranty.
