Looks like Arctic is not the only company building upon previously existing product designs, as Gelid, a rival of sorts, also chose to do something along these lines, putting together the Rev.2 Tranquillo.

It does look like companies on the cooling solutions market are doing their best to make sure their products are as widely compatible as possible.

Sure enough, Gelid's newest cooler fits the bill, supporting not just AM2, AM2+ and AM3 processors from Advanced Micro Devices, but also LGA chips from Intel.

The newcomer bears the name of Rev.2 Tranquillo and, as its name makes it obvious, it is a re-imagining of the Tranquillo model (it was made public back in the month of November, 2009).

That said, it is accompanied by a five-year warranty and has a price of $40, which is the rough equivalent of 30 Euro.

For those that want some information on the specifications, Gelid made it so the newcomer's heatsink measures 74 (L) x 125 (W) x 153 (H) mm.

Said component is complemented by a copper base and a hydro dynamic bearing fan with a diameter of 120 mm, plus four copper heatpipes to transfer the caloric energy away from the CPU.

Furthermore, the fan has a rotary speed of 750 to 1,500 RPM (rotations per minute) and sells in a bundle with GC-2 thermal compound.

All in all, the newcomer should well perform its part as high-quality CPU cooling solution for whomever buys it.

Of course, enthusiasts that want something capable of working for days on end without stopping might want to look for more specialized and enduring creations, like Arctic's Freezer 13 CO.

Formally revealed just a short time ago, they are covered in detail here although, true enough, their prices, particularly that of the Freezer 13 Pro CO, definitely reflect the extra functionality and durability.
