Geeksphone is the first company in the world to have announced a smartphone with Android-Firefox OS dual-boot capabilities, namely the Geeksphone Revolution, and it appears that the device will start shipping in the first half of February.

The info comes from Geeksphone co-founder and CEO Rodrigo Silva-Ramos, who has confirmed this on the company’s forums.

Moreover, he says there that the smartphone is expected to feature a price tag of around €200 ($270) without tax, which should make it a highly appealing device.

Interestingly though, it appears that Geeksphone is actually using Revolution to replace pre-orders for the Peak+, at least this is what TNW reports.

What remains to be seen is exactly when the new device becomes available for orders. The company notes on its website that users can already register to receive info on when reservations kick off, but no additional details on the matter have been provided as of now.

Last week, Geeksphone also decided to officially list Revolution on its website, thus unveiling the exact design that the new device will feature, alongside specifics on its hardware.

For those who missed our previous report on the matter, we should note that the phone comes with a 4.7-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display, while being powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor.

Geeksphone Revolution also comes with 1GB of RAM inside, along with 4GB of internal memory, and with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Moreover, the handset packs an 8-megapixel camera on the back, with LED flash and support for full HD video recording, as well as with a 1.3MP front camera for making video calls.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone also includes a 2000 mAh battery, HSDPA up to 21Mbps, HSUPA up to 5.76Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth Class 3.0, built-in GPS receiver, and G‐Sensor + E‐Compass + Light/Proximity sensors.
