It will pack an Intel processor, 2000mAh battery, 8MP camera

Next year, Spanish company Geeksphone, a pioneer in the designing and manufacturing of new smartphones, will make official a new device, one that will offer support for Mozilla’s Firefox OS.

The company confirmed plans on the matter a while ago, and it has officially announced some of the hardware specifications of the upcoming device today.

Thus, we know that the smartphone, dubbed Geeksphone Revolution, will arrive on shelves with the 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor Z2560 packed inside, with Intel Hyper-Threading technology included.

This means that the handset will be able to provide users with great multi-tasking capabilities, as well as with impressive performance and with long battery life, Geeksphone announced.

The main selling point of the phone, however, will be the fact that it will allow users to easily load different mobile operating systems on it, all without voiding its warranty.

Geeksphone Revolution will be released on the market with Google’s Android operating system loaded on top, as well as in a Firefox OS version, and with other platform options as well.

The handset will pack a 4.7 inch IPS qHD touchscreen display, a 2000 mAh battery inside, and an 8-megapixel camera on the back, with flash and HD video recording capabilities. Furthermore, the phone will sport a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

“Revolution, our new handset, will be a high-end smartphone with, a powerful Intel processor inside, which will bring unique capabilities to our existing customers and attract new ones,” Javier Agüera, Geeksphone Co-Founder and CEO, said.

“Additionally, end users will be able to choose which operating system they want, which breaks yet another traditional barrier in the mobile industry”.

Geeksphone’s Revolution is set to become available for purchase sometime in the first quarter of the next year, but no specific release date for it has been provided as of now. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
